Acrylic is a highly versatile plastic, ideal for applications that require transparency without needing high impact resistance. Its ability to be precisely shaped using laser cutting technology stems from the fact that it vaporizes upon contact with concentrated laser energy. Acrylic thermoplastics are renowned for their exceptional weather resistance and are also notable for their good impact strength, formability, and excellent resistance to sunlight, weather, and most chemicals. While standard grades are classified as slow-burning, there is also a special grade of acrylic that is self-extinguishing. Despite being less than half the weight of glass, acrylic offers significantly greater impact resistance.
